Summary
Five H-E-B prepared meals and bowls with use-by dates from Aug. 3 to Aug. 15 were pulled after the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued an Aug. 8 public health alert.
FDA-regulated jalapeños used in the meat and poultry products may be contaminated with salmonella, prompting the agency to tell consumers not to eat the items and to discard or return them.
Walmart’s 12.5-ounce Marketside Southwest Style Salad with Chicken and products sold through Albertsons, Hannaford, Kroger, RaceTrac and Wawa were also swept into the alert.
FSIS said no confirmed illnesses had been linked to the affected products, but urged anyone worried about symptoms to contact a health care provider.
