John Brennan said Americans should be "very worried" that Trump could interfere with the 2026 midterms if he sees either chamber of Congress at risk of flipping to Democrats.
A Tuesday interview fueled that warning after Trump appeared open to declaring a national security emergency to impose voter ID and proof-of-citizenship requirements without congressional approval.
Brennan said Trump could use "every tool" available to him, arguing presidential powers, a supportive Justice Department and backing from a Republican Congress create legitimate grounds for concern.
