The 11th-century embroidery stretches nearly 230 feet, depicts the 1066 Norman Conquest across 58 scenes and more than 600 figures, and will be shown flat in one continuous length for the first time.
The UK Treasury underwrote the loan at a provisional £800 million, the highest single-object financial indemnity in British museum history.
