Aaron Farinacci Faces 4 More Arson Charges as Judge Doubles Bail to $2 Million

$2 million bail was set for Aaron Farinacci after a judge doubled his bond Thursday; he also now faces four additional arson charges tied to alleged admissions that he set 25 fires since 2025.
Court documents say Farinacci planned the Old Trails Fire for two weeks, used weather apps to pick conditions, and built a delayed-ignition device from paper, matches, cigarettes and rubber bands.
Bodycam footage and witness accounts place him near the apparent fire origin before smoke rose; Paul Child, his grandson and the boy’s friend later gave what Child called a 100% positive field identification.
The Aug. 1 showup did not immediately produce charges, and Farinacci was released before his Aug. 3 arrest, underscoring investigators' initial probable-cause hurdle as the Spokane-area fires spread.
The Old Trails, Fairview and Autumn Lane fires have burned 10,002 acres and damaged or destroyed more than 920 structures in Spokane and Stevens counties.
