Summary
At Halas Hall, Chicago ran its most physical training camp session yet, with Ben Johnson using live short-yardage, goal-line and end-game work to simulate a pregame routine for newcomers.
The first-team offense dominated early, ripping off 29- and 25-yard runs on third-and-1 looks and an 8-yard bootleg completion; reports also highlighted D’Andre Swift and the right side behind Darnell Wright and Jonah Jackson.
The defense answered late, closing the end-game period and producing a safety when Dontae Manning jarred loose a fumble that Jon Rhattigan recovered; Devin Bush and UDFA safety Skyler Thomas also intercepted Tyson Bagent.
Jedrick Wills Jr. opened with the first team at left tackle while T.J. Edwards returned to fuller work; Tony Fields was carted off, Cam Lewis later returned after leaving on a cart, and Tyrique Stevenson missed the final team period.
Bad weather again kept fans out, and several Bears did not practice, including Montez Sweat, Braxton Jones, Jaylon Jones, Luther Burden and Terell Smith.
