To do that safely, it briefly resets the USB-C PD power contract and establishes a new one for the connected devices. That short interruption is normal behavior for many multi-port GaN chargers with dynamic power sharing. USB-C PD works by negotiation: devices and chargers communicate over the cable to agree on voltage and current. When the available power budget changes, the charger may momentarily stop output so it can advertise new power profiles and then resume charging at the new levels. The pause is therefore not a defect or a safety problem.
