Summary
More than 13,000 homes in greater Moultrie can now access Kinetic’s multi-gig fiber service, pushing the Georgia community past the 75% threshold for its “Gig-Ready Community” designation.
Kinetic said the buildout is meant to strengthen local digital infrastructure for work, education, telehealth and streaming, with part of the expansion supported by American Rescue Plan Act funding and state and county partnerships.
Ookla H1 2026 data cited by the company showed Kinetic’s upload speeds in Moultrie were more than 5.5 times faster than Xtream Powered by Mediacom, while latency beat CNSNEXT by more than 18%.
The designation adds to Kinetic’s broader push to expand fiber across its footprint, as the Uniti unit says more Gig-Ready communities can help drive business growth, connectivity and property values.
Will Kinetic's massive fiber rollout truly revolutionize Moultrie's local economy, or could the infrastructure upgrade unintentionally price out long-time rural residents?
As Kinetic rapidly expands its fiber footprint, what happens to rural broadband access once these crucial government subsidies inevitably run dry?
