Summary
Microsoft is phasing Mico out of Copilot voice mode, ending the yellow animated avatar’s role as the chatbot’s on-screen face less than a year after its October debut.
Learn Live will take over Mico because the avatar will have “more to react to” there, according to a Microsoft support page describing the move.
The removal comes as Microsoft merges its Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot apps and refocuses the assistant after an AI leadership reshuffle that put Jacob Andreou over Copilot.
Mico had been pitched by AI chief Mustafa Suleyman as a way to give Copilot an “identity,” but it now joins retired Microsoft helpers such as Clippy and Cortana as the company retools Copilot around what it learned.
