Money Market Fund Assets Rise $18.26 Billion to $7.93 Trillion by Aug. 12

$18.26 billion of net growth lifted U.S. money market fund assets to $7.93 trillion in the week ended Aug. 12, according to the Investment Company Institute.
$20.69 billion flowing into government funds drove the increase, while prime taxable funds added $1.79 billion and tax-exempt funds shed $4.22 billion.
$13.86 billion of the weekly gain came from institutional funds, whose assets reached $4.82 trillion, while retail funds added $4.40 billion to $3.10 trillion.
Government funds remained the dominant segment at $6.54 trillion, far ahead of $1.24 trillion in prime funds and $147.90 billion in tax-exempt funds.
