Xbox Adds 1,000-Game Wishlists and Cloud Play in August 2026 Update

Not anytime soon. Microsoft has only promised that more games will be added “in future updates,” and as of the Aug. 12 public rollout, Forza Horizon 6 is the lone title with cloud-save restoration. That narrow launch looks deliberate, not accidental. Forza Horizon 6 has been hit by widely reported save-loss and corruption problems, especially around Quick Resume on console and cloud-save issues on PC. Rolling the feature out there gives Microsoft a live test case on a game where the need is obvious. It also suggests Xbox is treating save rollback as a title-by-title capability rather than a universal switch. The practical implication is that broad coverage will likely take months, not days. Microsoft has not published a timetable, a target number of supported games, or criteria for which titles come next. Because the restore option appears inside each game’s saved-data management flow, developers may need per-game support and validation to expose older save versions safely. For players, the feature is useful but limited today. On supported titles, you can go to Manage game & add-ons, then Saved data, then Restore saved data to recover an earlier synced version. On unsupported games, that safeguard still does not exist on console. So the answer is: Xbox has started building a real safety net for corrupted saves, but it is still in pilot mode. Until Microsoft names more games and a rollout schedule, assume full-system rescue is a long-term goal rather than an imminent fix.

August 12's Xbox system update lets Game Pass subscribers launch supported games via cloud streaming instead of waiting for downloads, then update after they finish playing.
The release also adds cloud-save restoration for compatible titles—currently only Forza Horizon 6—while giving Xbox 360 games dedicated hubs plus richer achievement pop-ups and older Windows Phone entries in history.
Wishlist management was expanded as well: players can add upcoming or released games directly from game cards, and the cap rises to 1,000 titles.
The feature refresh lands in a difficult year for Xbox after a July plan to cut 20% of staff, or about 3,200 jobs, even as Microsoft prepares its next console under the Project Helix codename.
