Summary
Six years in prison were imposed on Courtney Gartshore, 28, after the High Court in Edinburgh sentenced her for the culpable homicide of her three-month-old daughter, Dahlia-Rose.
Up to 1 hour of hairdryer heat was directed at the baby on Sept. 30, 2023, while Gartshore was drunk and solely responsible for her in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.
Burns covered 18% of Dahlia-Rose’s body, and she died at the scene from heat stroke and hypothermia.
Judge Simon Collins KC called the case “uniquely disturbing” and said Gartshore had committed a gross breach of the most basic parental duty after her July conviction in Aberdeen.
