Summary
Five people were detained after Italian authorities recovered three stolen paintings by Renoir, Cézanne and Matisse, works worth more than $10.5 million.
The artworks were taken in March when masked burglars broke into a private museum near Parma and stole the paintings in about three minutes.
Prosecutors ordered searches that led to the recovery, while investigators continue to examine the robbery and the suspects' possible organized-crime links.
The case follows another high-profile European art theft last year, when French crown jewels were stolen from the Louvre and have still not been recovered.
