Matthew Bellamy Files for Divorce After 6 Years, Seeks Custody of 2 Children

Aug. 12 court filings in Los Angeles show Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy petitioned to divorce Elle Evans and asked for both legal and physical custody of their two children.
Bellamy cited irreconcilable differences, invoked the couple’s prenuptial agreement and said Evans could receive spousal support while asking the court to deny any support to him.
The filing leaves key financial issues unresolved: Bellamy said the full extent of separate assets, community property and debts has not yet been determined and reserved the right to amend the petition.
No separation date was listed, but Bellamy said in a June interview that the couple had split last summer after what he called unexpected circumstances and that he had focused on creating stability for the children.
Bellamy and Evans were linked in 2015, married in 2019, and share a daughter born in 2020 and a son born in 2024.
