Google began a global rollout of Sheets Canvas on Aug. 13, adding a read-write layer to Gemini in Google Sheets that turns natural-language prompts into in-sheet mini-apps.
The feature is aimed at users with no formula or coding skills: prompts can generate tools such as learning trackers, fantasy football dashboards and wedding seating charts.
Those mini-apps stay synced with the underlying spreadsheet in real time, and users can keep changing layout, design or functions through follow-up Gemini instructions.
Sheets Canvas is saved as a standard tab for easy sharing and is launching first in English for Google Workspace business accounts and Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
