Cooluli Recalls 250,000 Minifridges After 19 Fire Reports and $80,000 in Property Damage

Probably yes for the specific defect identified, but only if owners stop using the recalled units and complete the fix exactly as directed. The recall notice says the fire risk is tied to an internal electrical selector switch in older 10-liter and 15-liter Cooluli models that have both AC and DC input ports. Cooluli’s remedy is designed to take the AC side out of service: owners must cut the old cord, receive a replacement DC power cord, and place a permanent sticker over the AC port. In practical terms, that means the fridge would no longer be powered through the internal AC pathway linked to the short-circuit hazard. That makes the repair more than cosmetic. The sticker is not the real safety measure by itself; it is part of a kit meant to block future use of the risky AC port, while the new DC cord reroutes operation to the safer input. Cooluli also says newer models with external power supplies are not affected, which supports the idea that bypassing the internal AC supply addresses the problem. Still, the remedy depends heavily on consumer compliance. A sticker can be peeled off, and any recall fix is only effective if people actually unplug the fridge, cut the old cord, and never use the AC port again. The CPSC’s instruction to stop using the units immediately reflects that the hazard remains until the repair is completed. So the fix can be enough technically, but it is not enough on its own. Its success hinges on whether owners follow through.

About 250,000 Cooluli minifridges are being recalled after 19 reports of units smoking, sparking, burning, melting, overheating or catching fire, with one smoke-inhalation injury reported.
The CPSC said an electrical switch can short-circuit in certain 10-liter and 15-liter models, creating fire and burn hazards in Infinity, Classic, Glow Beauty and Vibe series units.
The affected fridges were sold on Amazon.com and Cooluli.com from January 2019 through October 2024 for $80 to $120, and the incidents caused more than $80,000 in property damage.
Consumers should stop using the units immediately, check model and batch numbers on Cooluli's recall site, then unplug the fridge, cut the cord and submit photos if their unit is covered.
Cooluli will send affected buyers a replacement DC power cord and a sticker to permanently cover the AC port on recalled products made in China and imported by Lisse USA LLC.
