Marvel Unveils VisionQuest Trailer, Sets Oct. 14 Premiere With Bettany and Spader

Q: Who placed the deadly bounty on Vision, and what dark secret does his rumored reincarnated son truly hide?

There is no confirmed on-screen answer yet to either mystery. Based on the material released so far, Marvel has only said that “a bounty” is placed on Vision’s head; it has not officially identified the person or group behind it. The strongest clue from the reporting is Todd Stashwick’s character, Paladin, who is described as a bounty hunter tracking Vision, but that points to the hunter, not necessarily the client who ordered the hit. The trailer and synopsis also suggest the threat may be tied to the same forces that previously tried to weaponize Vision. As for the boy, the “rumored reincarnated son” is widely understood to be Thomas Shepard, seemingly the MCU’s version of Tommy Maximoff/Speed — Wanda and Vision’s son from WandaVision, now re-emerging in another form. Official synopses stop short of calling his secret “dark,” saying only that Vision must “unravel the enigma” of Thomas and discover “the truth about the boy.” The additional reporting hints that Thomas may be more than a simple reincarnation. The trailer language suggests he could be central to a larger danger involving Ultron’s influence, Vision’s fractured identity, and the question of whether Wanda and Vision’s family was ever fully real. But until the series premieres Oct. 14, Marvel has not confirmed who posted the bounty or exactly what Thomas is hiding.
