Bethesda Puts $59.99 Oblivion Remastered Deluxe on Full Switch 2 Cartridge

Q: Now that the Switch 2 version has launched, will Bethesda finally rescue PC and PS5 players from a year of game-breaking stuttering?

Probably yes, but not yet. Bethesda has now publicly acknowledged the complaints from PC, PS5 and Xbox players and said the Switch 2 build contains “a number of optimizations” it is “looking into bringing to other platforms.” That is the clearest signal in more than a year that another patch is actively being considered. There is also evidence that the Switch 2 version may contain meaningful work worth backporting. Its day-one patch addresses a long list of crashes, infinite loading problems, save/load bugs, quest blockers and world glitches. Early reporting suggests the Switch 2 port is not perfect, but it appears somewhat more stable than the older PC and console versions, despite targeting 30fps at 900p handheld and 1080p docked with DLSS. That said, Bethesda has still not announced a release date, patch number or full scope for PC and PS5 fixes. The company’s wording stops short of promising a broad stability update, and some Switch 2 improvements may not translate directly. DLSS, for example, is specific to Nvidia hardware and cannot simply be copied to PS5 or Xbox, which use AMD chips. So the Switch 2 launch has finally produced movement and a public commitment to explore fixes, but PC and PS5 players have not been “rescued” yet. What they have is the strongest indication so far that a long-awaited patch may be coming.

$59.99 Oblivion Remastered Deluxe will launch physically on Nintendo Switch 2 on Aug. 11, 2026, with the full game on cartridge and no mandatory download.
Bethesda is bypassing Nintendo's Game Key Card format, which has become common for third-party Switch 2 releases because full cartridges cost more to manufacture.
The Switch 2 version targets 900p handheld and 1080p docked at 30fps with DLSS, and adds motion controls, touch support and left- or right-hand mouse mode for the 61.4GB game.
Oblivion Remastered already topped 9 million players in its first three months after its April 2025 release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The release also extends Microsoft's broader push to bring Bethesda games to more platforms, though Bethesda has not said whether the Aug. 11 launch will include fixes for older console performance issues.
