Saints, Jaguars Set Aug. 15 Preseason Broadcast on NFL Network at 3 p.m. CDT

Q: Which underdog rookies managed to steal the spotlight in yesterday's preseason clash between the Saints and Jaguars?

The underdog rookies who most clearly stole the spotlight were Jacksonville running back J’Mari Taylor and, on the Saints’ side, edge rusher Michael Heldman, tight end Oscar Delp and receiver Barion Brown. Taylor was the standout story of the game. The undrafted Jaguars rookie powered Jacksonville’s second-half comeback, rushing 22 times for 78 yards and the go-ahead 2-yard touchdown in a 24-20 win. His score came after another newcomer, quarterback Joey Aguilar, hit Trebor Pena for a 43-yard gain that flipped field position and set up the decisive drive. Aguilar and Pena also fit the underdog theme. Aguilar had only a brief audition but made it count with the deep shot to Pena, who rebounded from an earlier drop and finished with three catches for 58 yards. Rookie wideouts C.J. Williams and Josh Cameron also helped themselves for Jacksonville, combining for three catches and showing the camp form that had put them on the radar. For New Orleans, Delp made the biggest rookie scoring play, catching a 1-yard touchdown from Zach Wilson. Brown added a 28-yard sideline catch that highlighted the Saints’ best stretch offensively. On defense, Heldman, an undrafted rookie, delivered the most disruptive showing with two sacks and multiple tackles for loss, giving the Saints one of their strongest individual performances of the day. If one rookie most “stole the spotlight,” it was Taylor, whose late touchdown and heavy workload defined the game’s finish.

Aug. 15’s Jaguars-Saints preseason opener will kick off at 3 p.m. CDT at Caesars Superdome, with local TV on WVUE FOX 8 and national coverage on NFL Network.
Joel Meyers, Jon Stinchcomb and Terron Armstead will handle the TV call, while WWL 870 AM and 105.3 FM carry the local radio broadcast with Mike Hoss and Deuce McAllister.
NFL+ will stream the game on phones and tablets in the New Orleans market, with plans priced at $6.99 a month or $49.99 a year; Premium costs $14.99 monthly or $99.99 yearly.
Spanish-language radio will air on Tropical Radio outlets, and the Saints said postgame coverage will stream across their website, app, YouTube, Facebook and X.
