Summary
€13 billion of Greek debt is set for early repayment in 2026, according to a person familiar with the plan, as Athens tries to push its debt stock below Italy’s by year-end.
€2.5 billion of European Financial Stability Mechanism loans and a €2.2 billion bond due in 2027 are slated for repayment ahead of schedule, the person said.
€1.2 billion of Treasury bills would also be removed from Greece’s outstanding stock by Dec. 31, though the plan is not yet final.
$15.1 billion in total repayments would further extend Greece’s strategy of actively shrinking its borrowing burden after years of debt-crisis-era support.
