1961 Ferrari 250 GT Sperimentale Wins 18th Gran Turismo Trophy at Pebble Beach

The one-off 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Sperimentale Pininfarina Coupe was named the 18th Gran Turismo Trophy winner at the 2026 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, making it eligible for possible inclusion in the Gran Turismo game series.
Ferrari’s prototype was a fitting pick at the 75th Concours because the marque headlined this year’s event, and the car is widely regarded as the first experimental step toward the 250 GTO.
Chassis 2643 GT was built after a 1962 rules shift toward grand touring cars, pairing a strengthened 250 GT SWB with a dry-sump V12 and unique Pininfarina bodywork that helped shape the championship-winning 250 GTO.
Bruce R. McCaw, who has owned the car since 1999, collected his second Gran Turismo Trophy; the restored coupe also raced at Le Mans in 1961 and later took class results at Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans in 1962.
Ferrari became the first marque with 4 Gran Turismo Trophy wins, though only about half of past winners have reached the game and some took years to appear.
