Acer Launches Go Air at CNY 5,499 With Core 5 320 and 120Hz Display

For most buyers, probably not at Acer’s China price. The Go Air’s appeal is real: at 1.19kg and 12.99mm, it is among the slimmest Windows laptops in this class, with a metal chassis, a 70Wh battery unusually large for its size, 100W USB-C charging, and a 14-inch 120Hz 16:10 display. Those are meaningful advantages for commuters, students, and frequent travelers who care more about carry weight, battery life, and day-to-day polish than raw specs. But the compromises are hard to ignore at CNY 5,499 (about $815). The machine has 12GB of soldered LPDDR5 RAM, which is adequate but not generous for Windows 11 in 2026, and its port selection is minimal with only two Thunderbolt 4 ports and one USB-A. Rival Wildcat Lake laptops from Asus, Honor, and HP in China are already appearing with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage at roughly $650 to $750, often with more practical I/O such as HDMI, extra USB-A, and a headphone jack. Performance also does not fully justify the premium. Intel’s Core 5 320 looks suitable for productivity and light multitasking, but it is still a mid-range 6-core chip, not a high-performance part. In that context, Acer is asking buyers to pay extra mainly for thinness, battery capacity, and design refinement. That makes the Go Air a niche buy: worth it if ultra-portability is your top priority, less so if you value memory, flexibility, and price efficiency.
