Ukraine Idles Patriot Launchers as Interceptor Shortage Leaves It With 1% of US Stockpile

Summary
Ukraine has largely run out of Patriot interceptors, leaving some US-made launchers idle even as Russia’s near-nightly strikes made July the deadliest month for civilians since May 2022.
A global supply crunch worsened after heavy Gulf use in March and April, when coalition forces fired an average 225 interceptors a day against Iranian attacks while Lockheed Martin produced 620 in all of 2025.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine needs 5% of the US Patriot stockpile to survive the winter but currently has about 1%, and Kyiv has not disclosed how many missiles remain.
Washington’s longer-term fix is slow: the Pentagon’s seven-year plan aims for 2,000 interceptors annually by 2030, while Zelensky is still seeking a US license for production in Ukraine and the White House says no decision has been made.
