Summary
Garmin took 15% of the global smartwatch market in Q2 2026, up from 11% a year earlier, as overall wrist-wearable shipments slipped 2%, Omdia's preliminary figures showed.
Consumers are splitting between premium sports watches and screenless trackers, leaving basic and mid-tier smartwatches behind as buyers seek either advanced training data or fewer notifications.
Apple still led smartwatches with 46% share, down from 48%, while Samsung fell to 15% from 17%, drawing level with Garmin; Samsung's wearable-band share also dropped to 6%, matching Garmin.
Screenless trackers captured more than 15% of basic-band shipments despite that category shrinking 9% year over year, with devices such as WHOOP-style bands and Google's Fitbit Air helping drive the shift.
Garmin's July launch of the screenless Cirqa was not included in Q2 data, suggesting the company's position could strengthen further if demand keeps moving toward premium watches and distraction-free health bands.
