Summary
Entries are open until Sept. 10 for the 2026 Africa Energy Innovation Challenge, a pan-African competition for young entrepreneurs developing energy and sustainability solutions.
Up to $10,000 in cash grants will be shared by winners, while shortlisted finalists can also receive mentorship, business-development support, networking and venture incubation worth more than $15,000.
Four tracks frame the contest: youth employment and green jobs, agribusiness and waste-to-energy, local manufacturing and value addition, and AI and connectivity.
Applicants must be 18 to 35, apply in teams of at least three, and include at least one woman and one man; cross-border and cross-institution teams are allowed.
Shortlisted teams will pitch prototype models virtually at the 11th Nigeria Energy Forum on Nov. 19, as the program aims to scale locally grounded solutions to Africa's energy and development gaps.
