Max Holloway said his latest response was aimed not at Islam Makhachev but at whoever runs the champion’s Instagram after a post told him he “don’t understand” carrying multiple belts.
Holding his UFC and BMF titles on a live stream, Holloway said “these boys are heavy” and warned the account manager, “Don’t ever come for my throat,” accusing them of hiding behind Makhachev’s name.
The exchange grew out of Holloway’s criticism of Makhachev posing with 2 belts after beating Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330, even though only 1 title was on the line.
Makhachev had defended his welterweight belt in Philadelphia after vacating the lightweight title, while Holloway last fought at UFC 329 on July 11, beating Conor McGregor via injury.
