$1.5 million in New Mexico incentives will fund Quantinuum’s expanded Albuquerque research hub, centered on integrated photonics for trapped-ion quantum processors.
The package splits evenly between the state and the City of Albuquerque—$750,000 each through LEDA funds—and supports conversion of the vacant 5501 Wilshire site into lab and office space.
The facility will develop chip-scale photonics that guide and modulate laser light for qubit control, addressability and optical entanglement in next-generation multi-zone trapped-ion systems.
Albuquerque also deepens Quantinuum’s ties with Sandia, Los Alamos and the University of New Mexico, fitting into a state quantum push that has directed more than $450 million into research and infrastructure.
