Türkiye Cuts Unemployment to 7.9% as Employment Climbs to 32.48 Million

32.48 million people were employed in Türkiye in April-June, up 155,000 from the previous quarter, while the unemployment rate fell to 7.9%.
35.28 million people were in the labor force, up 71,000, lifting the employment rate to 48.5% and labor-force participation to 52.7%.
240,000 service jobs drove the gain, with construction adding 25,000 and agriculture 10,000, offsetting a 121,000 decline in industrial employment.
13.9% youth unemployment marked a 1-point quarterly drop, while overall joblessness remained higher for women at 10.3% than for men at 6.7%.
29.9% composite labor underutilization still pointed to broader slack, even as Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said lower informal employment was helping public finances.
