Summary
Honor’s new Robot Phone went on sale in China last week with a 6mm pop-up gimbal camera and an Arri-designed video system aimed at livestreamers and vloggers.
Arri worked with Honor to miniaturize parts of its cinema-camera hardware and color pipeline into a smartphone, adding about 10 cinematic LUTs and a dedicated Arri mode.
The design trades speed for image quality: Arri mode does not support 120-frame-per-second recording, while the gimbal adds optical stabilization and can flip the rear camera forward for self-shooting.
Honor began developing the concept in 2023 and showed Arri a prototype in 2025; the companies say their multiyear partnership will next extend to the Magic 9 Pro later this year.
For now the device is China-only, but Honor says it plans a next version and will decide which future phones get Arri technology based on processing power and camera hardware.
