Summary
Police investigating Hayden Panettiere’s Aug. 16 death were given a bag of medication she had allegedly been taking by ex-boyfriend Brian Hickerson, according to a report obtained by Fox Carolina.
Hickerson and his brother Zach were at the Greenville, South Carolina, apartment when Panettiere was found unresponsive and called 911; officers later executed a search warrant at the home.
The preliminary autopsy found no signs of trauma, while the police report said Zach appeared very emotional during resuscitation efforts and Hickerson became emotional after Panettiere was declared dead.
Hickerson’s presence drew added scrutiny because he had an on-and-off relationship with Panettiere and was convicted in 2021 after pleading no contest to 2 felony domestic-violence charges tied to her.
Just 3 days before Panettiere’s death, a Los Angeles court denied Hickerson’s latest bid to expunge and reduce those felony counts.
