Summary
A Palm Beach County judge on Wednesday denied Michael Caruso an extradition bond and ordered the suspended clerk held for transfer to Orange County by Sept. 2.
Five felony charges — kidnapping, molestation, exhibition, luring and child abuse causing mental injury — stem from allegations involving a child over nearly a year, including a family cruise in August 2025.
A sweeping no-contact order bars Caruso, 67, from contacting the alleged victim, family members, witnesses or anyone under 18; the judge said bond was inappropriate given the nature and extent of the charges.
Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended Caruso immediately after his Tuesday arrest, and chief deputy clerk Shannon Ramsey-Chessman was installed as interim clerk while FDLE oversees the office transition.
Caruso will remain jailed pending transport as election officials await state guidance on his November ballot status in the race against Democrat Yvette Drucker.
