At least seven people were arrested Sunday night after multiple fights broke out across the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis, and one officer was struck but not seriously injured.
Police said the unrest began as some people tried to enter the fair without authorization while other fights started on the grounds, prompting responses from state fair, West Allis and Milwaukee officers.
Videos that spread on social media showed large crowds running, shouting and fighting in several areas of the fairgrounds; authorities have not identified those arrested or explained what triggered the clashes.
The disturbance revived security concerns at the fair, which tightened youth-entry rules after 2022 fights and after 2011 violence that led to 31 arrests and 11 injuries.
