Those context-aligned patterns tracked positively felt self- and boundary-dissolving experiences and next-day mindset change, while conventional time-averaged modularity drops did not predict either outcome.
Brain connectivity shifted at the same time: during eyes-closed states, sensory integration fell by as much as 39% while associative-region connectivity rose up to 72%, and eyes-open versus eyes-closed differences sharply narrowed.
Default mode and visual networks contributed most to the effect, and music produced especially strong organization; an 8-week mindfulness course showed no significant added impact.
