An explosion was heard in Kyiv on Aug. 18 as authorities issued the capital's ninth air-raid warning of the day and reported enemy drone debris in the courtyard of a five-storey apartment block.
Dniprovskyi district was hit by falling UAV wreckage, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said, but no fire was reported; officials warned more drones were still heading toward the city and urged residents to stay in shelters.
Kyiv's military administration said air defenses were responding to the attack, which involved jet-powered drones targeting the capital.
Earlier on Aug. 18, Ukraine said Russia launched 76 jet-powered Shahed-type drones nationwide and that 70 were intercepted, underscoring the growing scale and persistence of the drone campaign.
