NFL Network reported Tampa Bay has barely engaged Vita Vea on an extension, leaving the defensive tackle without a deal beyond the 2026 season.
That lack of movement helps explain Vea’s trade request: he wants a major raise, but the Buccaneers have shown no serious willingness to negotiate a market-value contract.
Ian Rapoport said talks "really didn’t go down the road at all" and added the standoff is not over yet, even as Vea remains away from a full resolution.
Multiple teams are said to be ready to pursue a trade, though Tampa Bay is unlikely to move Vea before confirming its other defensive tackles come through preseason healthy.
