Summary
Bolt cutters helped Atlanta officers break into a locked trailer after they heard a child crying, leading them to the kidnapped 4-year-old and 11-month-old girls and suspect Lakesha Brown inside.
Brown had offered to watch the sisters Saturday, then allegedly took them instead of returning them, telling their mother they were at Walmart, "Candy Utopia," then DFACS after claiming she had been in an accident.
Arrest warrants say police found no hospital or DFACS record for the girls; Brown later admitted she should have returned them but gave no logical reason for keeping them.
Fulton County is holding Brown without bond, and Paulding County said Wednesday she also will face charges tied to allegedly faking her own pregnancy.
Alabama prosecutors are also seeking to revoke Brown's bond and extradite her in a 2021 case in which she was indicted over the kidnapping of a 4-day-old newborn who was later recovered safely.
