Q: Will the historic first Pokémon XP convention finally unveil the highly anticipated secrets of Winds and Waves?

Probably not in full, but Pokémon XP and the 2026 World Championships do look like the best chance yet for a first tease of Pokémon Winds and Waves. Nothing in the announced Pokémon XP panel lineup explicitly mentions Winds and Waves. The convention streams confirmed so far focus on other projects, including Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu, Pokémon Pokopia, Pokémon TCG Pocket, and a live Game Show taping. A separate August 21 Worlds Preview Show is also expected to feature Pokopia-related announcements rather than a mainline reveal. The real watch point is the 2026 World Championship Closing Ceremony on August 30 at 7:30 p.m. PT / 10:30 p.m. ET. The Pokémon Company has used that stage before to deliver game news, including updates on Pokémon GO and a fresh look at Pokémon Legends: Z-A at last year’s event. That history makes the closing ceremony the most credible venue for any Winds and Waves appearance. Even so, expectations should be restrained. Winds and Waves is still targeting 2027, so any reveal at Worlds would most likely be brief—a teaser, logo treatment, short trailer, or development update—rather than a major gameplay showcase. Pokémon XP itself is important as the franchise’s first fan convention, but based on the schedule now public, it is more a celebration and engagement event than a confirmed stage for the next-generation game’s big unveiling.

Aug. 28-30 in San Francisco, the 2026 Pokemon World Championships and inaugural Pokemon XP will stream selected events worldwide, with The Pokemon Company publishing the official schedule.
