NASA said dust remains an engineering and health problem beyond inhalation, with possible exposure through water, regolith processing and crops, making suitports, airlocks, filters and chemical treatment part of broader habitat design.
The proposed standard is provisional for early short-stay missions, with longer missions likely needing tighter evidence because real Martian particle chemistry and biological effects remain uncertain.
