Euro Area Construction Output Falls 1.3% in June as EU Production Drops 1.0%

Summary
June construction production fell 1.3% in the euro area and 1.0% across the EU from May, reversing revised gains of 0.2% and 0.1% a month earlier.
Specialised construction activities led the monthly decline, down 1.8% in the euro area and 1.7% in the EU; Civil engineering dropped 1.4% and 0.7%, while building construction fell 0.9% and 0.7%.
Slovakia posted the steepest monthly drop at 4.6%, followed by Hungary at 3.9% and France at 2.9%, while Romania rose 4.9%, ahead of Sweden's 2.0% and the Netherlands' 1.0%.
Compared with June 2025, euro-area output slipped 0.7% but EU output edged up 0.2%, as building activity remained weak—down 6.5% in the euro area and 4.9% in the EU.
Eurostat also revised May data lower, cutting euro-area annual growth to 0.7% from 1.2% and EU annual growth to 1.4% from 1.8%.
