Pakistan Court Orders Imran Khan, 73, Moved to Hospital for 29 Days

Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered Imran Khan transferred from Adiala prison to Islamabad’s Shifa International Hospital within two days and kept there until at least the next hearing on September 16.
A jail report citing an August 10 cardiac review said Khan had fluctuating blood pressure and anxiety, and the bench said his pulse and heart condition were abnormal and his vital organs had started being affected.
The court also ordered a medical board to oversee treatment — including Khan’s sister and personal physician — and allowed family visits and calls with his sons abroad.
PTI welcomed the ruling but told supporters not to gather at the hospital, while saying preparations for a nationwide September 27 protest will continue unless the government complies with court orders and opens substantive talks.
The transfer, after courts twice rejected similar requests since February, may signal a limited thaw in the government-PTI standoff, though analysts say any broader deal still depends on Khan himself.
