Tórtoles de Esgueva in northern Spain was chosen months in advance, and the shoot used a 600-millimeter lens plus two additional cameras for wide-angle landscape images in the eclipse’s final 15 seconds.
Manual alignment was done on the corona rather than the moon, which shifted by a pixel or two between frames; the moon was then replaced from one image to restore a sharp edge, and a red prominence was re-added after stacking.
The finished image was color-matched to a panoramic sunset shot so the corona kept its peach tint, aiming to reflect the eclipse’s real appearance rather than a heavily altered rendering.
