Summary
Warsaw said a Ukrainian suspect planted an improvised explosive device under a car used by a Ukrainian arms-industry representative in Kyiv, but the cellphone-triggered bomb failed to detonate because of a malfunction.
Poland's ABW said the man, identified as Serhii P, acted on behalf of Russian intelligence, fled to Poland after the attempt and was arrested in Warsaw on charges including attempted murder with explosives.
The arrest came as Russia intensified pressure on Ukraine: missile and drone strikes on Kyiv and surrounding areas killed at least 16 people, damaging homes, a school and a children's medical centre.
Romania separately said an F-16 destroyed an explosives-laden Russian marine drone near the Neptun Deep gas project, prompting EU chief Ursula von der Leyen to denounce Russia's widening "hybrid warfare" campaign.
