Summary
Rep. Mark Pocan said he would use the House Appropriations FSGG subcommittee to scrutinize OMB, the IRS, the FCC and other Trump administration agencies if Democrats win the House in November.
Nearly $400 million that OMB redirected earlier this year to White House security from Republicans’ tax-and-spending law is a prime target, with Pocan questioning whether any money could support Trump’s planned White House ballroom.
OMB Director Russell Vought would be called in regularly, Pocan said, as Democrats argue the administration has broken long-standing practice by moving congressionally approved funds and weakening Congress’ control of the purse.
Pocan also wants hearings on Elon Musk’s now-defunct DOGE, more public testimony from IRS and FCC leaders, and more frequent appearances by Supreme Court justices as Democrats prepare a wider Trump oversight campaign.
