Firefly has passed testing and entered serial production, giving Ukraine a guided munition designed for release from bomber drones operating up to 2,625 feet.
The weapon calculates its own flight path after release and is meant to stay accurate under electronic warfare, letting reusable drones strike fortified positions from safer stand-off points.
Reusable platforms such as the Vampire—valued at about $10,000 and used in more than 1 million combat missions—could benefit most if Firefly reduces the need to fly directly over exact drop points.
Cabinet Resolution No. 1310, adopted in October 2025, lets multiple private companies manufacture state-developed defense technology without licensing fees, creating a path for parallel Firefly production.
