Opening night in Southwestern Indiana produced two marquee SIAC results: Memorial beat Jasper 48-14, while Castle slipped past North 29-26.
Elsewhere, Floyd Central handed Gibson Southern an immediate setback 17-14, and North Posey won a key PAC cross-divisional matchup at Southridge 27-14.
Several area teams opened with lopsided victories, including Mater Dei 56-14 over Central, Reitz 46-0 over Harrison, Heritage Hills 49-13 over South Spencer and Tell City 49-6 over Perry Central.
The Evansville-area slate was part of Week 1 of the 2026 IHSAA season, which also opened across Central Indiana with wins by Brownsburg, Warren Central and Carmel.
