Summary
£5,000 invested in Airtel Africa in August 2024 would now be worth more than £15,500 after the stock delivered a 211% total return in two years.
FY26 results underpinned that surge: revenue rose 29.5% to $6.415 billion, net earnings climbed 147.4% to $813 million, and operating free cash flow increased 39.4% to $2.28 billion.
Tariff increases, recovering currencies and expanding margins strengthened the balance sheet, while data became Airtel's largest revenue stream and renewed interest in a planned Airtel Money London listing added momentum.
That cash generation has supported network expansion, debt reduction and higher dividends, but the company still faces political unrest, regulatory complexity, utility instability and currency volatility across parts of Africa.
A further 200% gain would take the shares to about 980p, a move that would require exceptional earnings growth, continued margin expansion, a successful Airtel Money listing and sustained regional stability.
