Voyager 2’s 1986 flyby found 10 new Uranian moons but missed this one during its brief, data-limited encounter, underscoring how Webb’s long, targeted observations can reveal objects a closer spacecraft did not identify.
The provisional designation still lacks an official name, and the find pushes the detection boundary inward, strengthening the case that more tiny moons may remain hidden near Uranus’s rings.
