Rand Paul Stalls Trump’s ICE Pick for Nearly 2 Months Over 2 Killing Probes

Nearly two months after Trump nominated Schroyer to lead ICE, Senate Homeland Security Chair Rand Paul has blocked a confirmation hearing, leaving the nomination in limbo.
Paul is withholding action until the administration provides more information on probes into federal agents’ killings of two American citizens earlier this year in Minneapolis.
DHS officials told the outlet many inside the agency are relieved by the delay and see little sign the White House is pushing hard to change Paul’s position, though it says Schroyer remains the nominee.
Schroyer’s stalled bid has also exposed a wider split over immigration policy: hardliners question his deportation credentials and cast him as Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin’s handpicked but weak choice for ICE.
