Q: Why did a famous rapper delay his daughter's extravagant Sweet 16 party for his own album release?

He delayed the big Sweet 16 celebration by one day because his album, *The Documentary III*, was scheduled to be released on his daughter Cali Dream Taylor’s actual birthday, Aug. 21, and he wanted to focus on that launch before giving her the full attention she deserved. According to The Game, he told Cali he might have to drop the album on her 16th birthday because of how much the project meant to him and how hard he had worked on it. He said she supported the decision and told him they could celebrate her Sweet 16 the next day. He later publicly thanked her for understanding and said that gave him the chance to “finish what I started” so he could give her “100%” for her party. The delay was not a scaling back of the event. On Aug. 22, The Game and Tiffney Cambridge hosted an elaborate masquerade-themed party in Beverly Hills, with family, friends, dancing, a photo booth, a performance by Kalan.FrFr, a crown-topped pink cake and, most notably, a Mercedes-Maybach SUV revealed as her gift. So the party was postponed for practical and personal reasons tied to the album release, with Cali’s approval, and then carried out as a full-scale celebration the following day.

A Mercedes-Maybach SUV with an oversized pink bow was the centerpiece of Cali Dream Taylor’s Sweet 16, unveiled by The Game after she was blindfolded and led outside.
The Beverly Hills masquerade party came a day after Cali’s Aug. 21 birthday and featured dancing, a photo booth, a crown-topped pink cake and a performance by Los Angeles artist Kalan.FrFr.
The Game said Cali had agreed to let him release The Documentary III on her birthday, telling fans she wanted him to finish the project before he focused fully on her celebration.
