Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon chips are driving that choice because GrapheneOS says only the Elite tier currently delivers the security features it needs, including stronger MTE and secure-element support.
Motorola is expected to ease the rollout by handling much of the porting work and supplying firmware and driver components, letting GrapheneOS fix lower-level issues through Motorola and Qualcomm more easily than on Pixels.
Seven years of regular updates are planned, with support extending beyond slab phones to Razr Fold and Razr Ultra models as GrapheneOS expands past its long-standing Pixel-only base.
