Summary
John Stewart and Hal Jordan shift from solving Rushville’s football-game killings to finding the hidden Manhunter after alien survivors give them 48 hours before they destroy the town.
The case has narrowed: the dead were an alien scout team, Macon’s men used alien detectors to identify them, and the shooters were apparently protecting the shapeshifting synthetic blamed for a planetary genocide.
Rushville’s residents, William Macon and Sheriff Kane all push the Lanterns to leave, but Hal and John stay because another alien suicide attack already nearly hit the town police station.
Antaan says a Green Lantern once captured the Manhunter for execution; Hal suspects it was Abin Sur, linking the fugitive to the crash that brought the ring to Earth years earlier.
Suspicion now centers on Macon’s compound and possible insiders including Billy, Zoe and Sheriff Kane, while John and Hal remain aligned on one goal: find the Manhunter before Rushville is wiped out.
